The West Coast

We went to White Rock in Vancouver on Tuesday night. After supper, we left the dishes on the table and went. We needed to get out. It's only half an hour from our house and it's a favourite. The first time we went was on the way home from the airport. It was afternoon and the tide was out so the kids had fun finding shells and crabs. They were expecting to do that again. We didn't think about the fact that it was evening and the tide would be in! (:  It's not a great swimming spot. But the big boys enjoyed jumping off the pier. It's a decent jump! I love all the houses on the hill. It seems very 'West Coast' to me. I am a lover of the ocean.

There are tracks right beside the boardwalk.  How neat!!

My people.

We also went to Cedar Cove, which is in Deep Cove. There is a TV show called Cedar Cove. They were setting up to shoot a wedding scene there the next day. Kinda neat.  We were hoping to let the kids kayak there, but didn't realize that we needed to reserve ahead because they are so busy. So we walked the dock and spotted starfish in the shallow water. The kids went in with their clothes and worked hard to catch a little starfish. They didn't have water shoes or anything with them and their feet and hands were pretty cut up because the stones were not smooth. The kids wanted to keep the starfish, but they ended up putting it back. (:

Coolest bridge ever.

The girls.

Insane suspension bridge. It was so wiggly that you had to hold on.

We see vehicles with the steering wheel on the wrong side here kind of often. We have never seen so many of them ever. I think I have only seen one in my whole life up to this point.

We are having fun exploring! (:

  1. I didn't realize this until last Saturday but you can also rent kayaks, paddleboards, etc at White Rock. A bit farther down the road by the pier closer to the end of the strip. There is also a super yummy ice cream store there where the ice cream is homemade and the guy there is a hoot!

  2. We flew with our girls when they were young and spent 2 weeks in B.C. exploring. What a great 2 weeks and when you show these pictures, they bring back memories.
