Overload

Some people call it sorrow overload. I am not sure why at times the weight of other's pain and sorrow overwhelms, when other times we can pray on, without crumbling under the weight.

... a year and a half after a car accident a young husband and father is taken to be with the Lord.
... a 15 year old boy dies in a car accident. His mom still in a coma, will wake to her boy with the Lord and already buried. Think of her husband who buried his boy and holds his wife's hand waiting for her to wake, while holding his other children in their grief.
... a man suffers with ALS, as his "tent pegs are being pulled up one by one"
... a family tries to find their feet again after the Lord takes their little boy to Himself, leaving behind his twin, a little sister and another little sister on the way. On this side of heaven they will never be a complete family.
... a wife mourns the loss of another husband

I could go on.

In all these situations, these people are a testimony of God's strength and faithfulness. As they mourn, hurt and suffer, their trust in the Lord is evident. Despite the pain, (mostly from their writing) I see joy in trial and hope in the Lord. They know that this life is just the gateway to LIFE, where we will be whole and at the feet of our Lord.

Revelation 21:1-4 (ESV)

"1.Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

I am longing for that day. What a day that will be....

  1. How true...and what a precious future we have to look forward to, but until then there is much sorrow. The internet makes our circle of knowledge so much bigger than it would be normally!
