Scan Time
The VanderDeen family needs prayer. We got to know this family when Ken taught at his first highschool (PRC). Richard, who is fifty-one years old, has a kind of Leukemia (I believe) and needed a stem cell transplant. It looked like things were going well for a while, but in the last few weeks things have changed. The transplant has failed and they need to find a new plan. Could you please pray for this family? Here is their BLOG.
This past weekend we went to St Thomas. We need to step into the country every 60 days for our travel insurance and Friday was our 60th day out of the country. We had such a nice weekend with our families. The time was sweet and it was hard to leave. We are very content in our new life here in MI, but every once in a while we are reminded of what we left behind. It stings a little.
Six months have passed, so this coming weekend, I am taking Micah, Natalie, Josiah and Grace back to St Thomas for Micah's scan. He has his MRI on Monday morning at 7:30 am and a check up after that. We have to leave Ken and Josh behind because we don't want to take Josh out of school unless we have to. It is also better for Ken not to travel again. He needs time to work on his school stuff. Maybe it will be nice for him to have a peaceful weekend without interruptions! (o:
As time passes, the Lord has blessed us with so much peace and is healing our hearts in beautiful ways. We are so thankful. But we still find scan time difficult. I am told it will always be hard, even many years down the road. But for some reason, I keep hoping each time that this will be the time it will be easy.
Micah looks wonderful!!!! He has been coughing for a few months. But it doesn't bother me because we all have been coughing. So we are not going into this scan with concerns about his health. It is a huge blessing that we are not holding our breath. We are trusting and are confident that the Lord knows what is best. He is sovereign and faithful! But this process is still hard on our hearts.
Could you please pray for us?

Could you please pray for us?
- Thank the Lord for Micah's health.
- Thank Him for the gift he has given Micah. Micah's extraordinary peace and the way he is able to give his health over the to the Lord, can only be from His hand.
- Safety while we travel without Ken.
- Peace coming up to the scan.
- That the scan will go smoothly and that Micah will be relaxed during the scan and able to hold his breath for as long as required.
- Peace while we wait for results.
- That this scan will tell us that Micah is still free of cancer. That would be such a gift!
Thank you so much for your prayers.

We have been and continue to pray for Micah and your family as each scan brings back a lot of emotions and memories for your family. Thank you for your refreshing transparency in sharing these times of need with your brothers and sisters in Christ that we might lift you up in prayer according to your specific requests. Blessings in Christ, Joel & Heidi
ReplyDeletePraying for you all, Belinda. I read Richard VanderDeen's blog yesterday. This is so, so hard for them. I used to be on the Ed. Committee at PRC with Richard.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much pain and sorrow in this world, but our God is greater and He will carry His people through the valleys, even the valley of the shadow of death and the valley of death.
Hugs.
Praying friend!!!!!!!
