A Road Trip....

This past weekend we went on a family trip. On Saturday we drove to Collingwood. The fall colors are amazing!. There are beautiful caves up there as well. I took so many pictures of the beauty, but my $125 camera couldn't seem to capture what we were really seeing.
We stayed in Collingwood the first night. In the morning we got up and drove to Meaford. There is an OPC church plant there. That is neat. We then drove on to Owen Sound and went for a walk at Inglis Falls. It was amazing! We stayed the night at a hotel in Port Elgin with a GREAT pool. Monday morning we checked out and started the drive home. It would be really great to have a button to push that would transport us home. I reeeeaalllly dislike driving long distances with a van full of kids. Actually, I don't love driving a long ways without them either. I would rather just get somewhere and start doing things. Driving seems like a waste of time to me. Ken is just the opposite. He enjoys driving very much. When we go in trips, he would be willing to drive to 8 hours to get somewhere. To me that seems crazy. So we usually compromise.
This trip was so fun and such a nice time away from real life. We made some fun memories, got some good video and pictures. I am so thankful for this time. What a blessing! But I wouldn't exactly call it a relaxing time. The kids were very well behaved but sometimes it is more work wrangling kids away from home! (: Sleeping is sure a treat! You hear every little snort, sniffle, cough, and groan. When Micah doesn't sleep well, he tosses and turns and slams his body down in frustration, as if he can somehow un stuff his nose by sheer force. He is something! I feel sorry for his wife!(:
Anyways here are some pictures from our weekend!

This is my favourite picture taken at Eugenia Falls on the way to Collingwood. I thought the actual falls really didn't count as falls, but it was beautiful there.

Grace did really well on the trip.

Josh and Eugenia Falls. They do look kind of sad eh? That is just a trickle really. (:

Josiah running ahead at the caves in Collingwood. Just so you know.... Half a minute after this pic was taken, we caught up to him and he was peeing in the middle of the trail.

The caves in Collingwood. The high rock walls are so beautiful.

Ken fed Grace while I went into the caves with kids.

The kids venturing into the black hole. Josiah is not so sure.

Looking down on Collingwood.

We did A LOT of driving. The scenery was so beautiful. The roads were not often straight or flat. The sky went on forever. The colors were so beautiful. God has blessed us with His beautiful creation.

This is more like it! This is at Inglis Falls just outside Owen Sound.

Micah resting after doing some climbing.

Climbing down to the falls.

What a neat wall of rock. I don't have many pictures of Josh at the caves or at the falls because he was always running ahead. Of all the kids, its Josh who really enjoys the climbing and exploring the most.

A happy Grace...

At the hotel in Port Elgin. Micah is waiting to go swimming in a not so patient fashion! He kind of looks like Willy Wonka! (:

He is happy now.

Inseparable friends.

This was our last stop on the way home, near Innverhuron. For our family, nothing beats Lake Huron. Next summer we would love to rent a cottage somewhere in between Bayfield and Sauble Beach. I can't wait!

  2. Hey - we were at some of the same places this weekend! Wouldn't it have been too funny if we had run into each other there? We like it down here well enough...but oh, to think what we left behind! :( It's a good thing we have friends up that way and head up there regularly.

  3. I think your $125 camera did a great job! It looks beautiful up there... we're hoping to take our kids up there next year too.
I had to smile at your comment about long drives - you would not have enjoyed our drive to the True Woman conference!
